Not really 'off the beaten path', but still, not as packed with tourists as the other sites. Try visiting one of Paris cemeteries. This photo was taken in Montparnase cemetery. You'll find quite a lot of Parisians taking a stroll between the tombstones.

On the outskirts of Paris you'll find Parc de la Villette. In this beatiful park you'll also find a science museum, a music museum, the Argonout submarine, Le Géode cinema and more. It's a fun place for both children and adults. This giant burried bicycle is an example of the stuff you can find there. I was walking there for half an hour and haven't noticed it, only climbing to higher grounds revealed the mystery of this huge chunks of metal stuck in the grass.

La Défense, an ultra modern quarter, just out of Paris. This arc is aligned with the more traditional, Arc de Triomphe, so looking from the top you can see all the way to the Concord.

Gillybob Thu Nov 8, 2007 10:17 UTC Paris is such an eclectic city - I don't think anyone could visit and not find something to inspire them! Gillybob greetings | Nemorino Sun Aug 19, 2007 22:16 UTC Glad you liked the Parc de la Villette. Fine photos of it in your tips and travelogue. On my last visit to Paris I also went to the Mosque and the Arab World Institute, so I was glad to see you did a travelogue on them as well. | ExGuyParis Tue Mar 4, 2003 18:16 UTC Wonderful photos of some off-the-beaten path attractions of Paris. | zuriga Tue Jul 16, 2002 12:06 UTC Mazel tov.....Nice photos!
