The National flower of South Africa is the Giant or King Protea (Protea cynaroides).

In September and October 1995 I travelled through South Africa.

After our trip to Zambia in August we flew from Lusaka to Johannesburg, South Africa. We collected our rented car, a red VW-microbus, at the airport and we drove the next day to a farm near Lydenburg, where one of my cousins was manager. We stayed a few days with them and then drove north. Today the name of North Transvaal is: Northern Province, of Eastern Transvaal: Mpumalanga.
After this tour we flew to Durban to visit Kwazulu-Natal.
In 1997 we came back to see more of Kwazulu-Natal.
