No, not "Anna was here", because I wasn't. I even didn't know there is a place called Anna in Illinois. Now I know, that VT has "Anna, Illinois", but my atlas has more Anna's, all over the world. In Russia, in Estonia (2), in Italy, Latvia, Spain, and on Nauru. And in the USA four towns have this beautiful name: in Arkansas, Illinois, Mississippi and Ohio.
Now with knowing about Anna, Illinois, I got some questions. Sorry for you, visitor of this Anna page, you came to get an answer. But maybe we find some. My first question is, how an inhabitant of Anna is called. Someone from Genua is a Genuese. An Annese? From Papua: a Papuan. An Annan?
I will have a look at their website. Every place has one, nowadays.

Stinson Memorial Library

The town was named after Anna, the wife of Winstead Davie, the founder of the town. He came here in 1817, at the age of 23.
