It rained cats and dogs on the day we went from Alameda to visit Sacramento, the State capital of California. We only saw a glimpse of the beautiful townhall, it looked like a smal version of the Capitol in Washington, like many townhalls here. What we saw of Sacramento was the old town with 19th century houses, the streets bordered with big trees. But what to do when the rain is pouring? Yes, a museum and a very special one, a favourite of our American friends, who where with us. The California State Railroad Museum. A must for train lovers. Very complete, many real, well polished trains. And the interiors, sleeping cars, dining cars with the tables set with beautiful china.
Outside the cars were groups of wax figures: conductors, porters, waiters.
There is a nice corner for kids, to play with trains and other toys.
The museum has its own website:

The world is a better place because of Rosie... I only hope I can find her within if I ever need to...what a gal!
I like rosie the Riveter. Thank you for introducing her to me! And thank you for your birthday wishes! Ulrike
I have a Rosie the Riveter sweatshirt -- bought it during a road trip at a Cracker Barrel restaurant!
What a shame it rained for you, but at least you made the most of it. That sounds a fabulous museum and I never knew of Rosie - quite a symbol.
Awwwh! my mum also like that! strong and did it by herself!
