Small town in a beautiful scenery.

Lee Vining seems just one of the many small towns in the USA. The long gray road with the yellow line in the middle and on both sides gas stations, motels, restaurants and shops.
But its location makes a stay worthwhile. East of the Sierra Nevada, on Rt #395,Lee Vining is minutes away from Tioga Pass and Yosemite National Park, the ghost town of Bodie, and Mono Lake.
While in Lee Vining, visit theMono Lake Committee InformationCenter and Bookstore(also the Chamber of Commerce), the Mono
Basin Scenic Area Visitor Center, and the Mono Basin Historical Society Museum. They will give you all the information you need. In the visitor center I saw a beautiful film about Mono Lake and the water problems.

Lee Vining offers six hotels during summer months as well as several RV parks.

Beautiful areas surrounding this place. I've yet to see a ghost town but don't blame you for turning back. Lovely photos.. that lake is sure old!
