"Lovely Small town on Romatische Strasse" Weikersheim by gauravm03

Wickersheim is a small town on the Romantic road. Unlike most other towns on this road which are in Bavaria, it is in the state of Baden Wutternberg. It has a nice market square with several restaurants and a church. Opposite the church is a small bridge that leads into the schloss (castle).

There is a lot of free parking space very near to the square and we found parking spot easily on a Sunday.

The feel is truly of a small market town and it is one of the places that can be easily seen in a few hours.

The castle is relatively small but has a guided tour and some interesting rooms. The guide for the tour wears a traditional German dress. The castle is good but nothing spectacular from inside although it looks very nice when viewed from the gardens

The gardens are very scenic with the backdrop of hills on one side and the castle and church spires on the other. There are some interesting statues in the garden too. Very nice for a stroll or to relax for an hour.

The entry is now a pretty steep 5.5 euros for both the castle and the gardens. I say it is steep because both these are pretty small. I have visited this town in 2004 as well and the entry then was 1 euro (castle + gardens). This time we avoided the castle and paid 2.5 euros to go into the gardens.

• Pros:Schloss Garden, Gellateria in the market square, easily visited in a couple of hours
• Cons:Expensive ticket for the castle, Not much to do after 2-3 hours
• In a nutshell:A pretty town
