Verde Island Resort, located in Barangay San Antonio, Verde Island, Batangas City, is the gateway to the center of biodiversity - found at Verde Island Passage.

Just last month, President Gloria Macapagal- Arroyo declared Verde Island passage as a marine sanctuary and protected area, following the publication of research conducted by Dr. Ken Carpenter, an American Marine biologist who is the Coordinator of the Global Marine Species Assessment of the World Conservation Union. His research, "The Center of the Center of Marine Shorefish Biodiversity: the Philippine Islands," completed with Dr. Victor Springer, indicates that Verde Island Passage is THIS center.
