Historic Carthage IL is a small town with a great history to tell. The biggest tourism draw in Carthage is the "Old Mormon Jail" where the founder/leader of the Mormon Church was murdered in 1844.
But Carthage has other fasinating stories to tell as well. The Hancock County Courthouse is at the center of the town square, and is one of the most beautiful courthouses in the mid-west. Completed in 1908, the courthouse has stood as the center of the business district in Carthage for nearly a century.
For more on Carthage, visit it's web page at http://www.carthage-il.com.
