The Land of Enchantment New Mexico is a very beautiful state to visit. Red rock, majestic mountains, adobe structures and a rich culture and history. Ft. Sumner hosts Billy the Kid historama. Albuquerque has some amazing museums. Cloudcroft is home to one of the most beautiful lodges in America, The Lodge. Angelfire is a beautiful spot to cuddle up in a cabin or go skiing. There are so many places to visit, things to do and see. If you are wanting to travel into beautiful mountain territory, I suggest going through Northern New Mexico, further south and you run into desert. One thing to watch out for are trucks. The speed limit is 75 on most interstates in New Mexico, therefore trucks go 90+ on these. This can pose for an unpleasant driving experience. Also, if you are looking for good Mexican food, New Mexico just does not deliver. Being a Texan, you fare better going into Texas or to the border towns in Mexico. Another tip, weather is unpredictable in New Mexico. When it snows, the roads become very slick. This does not deter drivers who are used to the area, so if you are not familiar with the roads stay indoors until they clear because fatal accidents are common on icy roads. |
