The picture above is the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Mosque (also known as the Blue Mosque - yes, like the one in Turkey!) in my hometown Shah Alam - certified in the Guinness World Book of Records to be the biggest dome in the world... It was inspired by the Blue Mosque in Turkey. It is one of the most notable buildings and landmarks in Shah Alam.

After a visit to Istanbul, Turkey on March 2008 I saw the similarities and differences between the two mosques :-) ....

Well, something about myself.... I join VT and therefore that shows my passion for travelling. I am a traveller and my philosophy is to travel at least ONCE a year. I don't mind whether locally or abroad, just as long as I can get away from work for a while...(mmmm, priceless!). I feel that travelling is a wonderful experience for me to explore the various cultures and also helps me to understand human nature better.

However, being a Muslim and a vegetarian, I find it sometimes very difficult to travel to certain countries when it comes to food. Being a food-lover, I often get very frustrated when I cannot fill my belly accordingly ;-)...

Right now, I am discovering a new passion with my travels which is scuba-diving. After a trip to an island in the West Coast of Malaysia, I fell in love with the wonderful marine life... So, I decided to snorkel at first... It gradually escalated to scuba-diving after a trip to the Langkawi island and I LOVED it!!!! Now, most of my travels are planned towards tropical island getaways!!

I LOOOOVE animals! I am always the one whom you'll find fussing over the hungry cats (and always fostering them before re-homing them to loving families!) or scolding children from throwing stones to the dogs or bringing an injured bird to the vet...

I hate the thought of animals being abused and I hate the idea of them being kept in cages and zoos instead of their natural habitat. I also don't like to see them being used as our entertainment - be it for fun rides (horses, elephants, camels, etc) or the circus.

I am a committee member and volunteer at a local animal shelter in Ampang, near Kuala Lumpur. I go there nearly every weekend if time permits me! I am also an animal activist being a very active member of PeTA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) based in the US, helping them with the local grassroot, awareness & publicity activities. I'm also broadening my views and knowledge by attending conferences and seminars about animal rights and animal welfares.

I've done both in New Zealand (the Land of Outdoor Sports). Some say I'm crazy, others call me suicidal but I just tell them it's my adrenaline rush... There's nothing like it in the world. Try it and you'll get hooked!
