A 5-Day Visit to Bangkok

by boocik04 - last update: Jan 1, 2007

One of the many stupas at Muang Boran
I planned for this trip since August but due to busy working schedule, I finally managed to go to Bangkok only in December. Took the Malaysian budget airline from LCCT, Sepang (which cost me only RM600 return + hotel - all done through the wonders of the internet!!) but my flight was delayed for over an hour!

I arrived in Bangkok on Thursday, 7 December 06 at 3.00pm local time. Had to wait for the shuttle bus for another 40 minutes and due to the traffic, I reached the hotel at nearly 6.00pm. What an experience to go through the notorious Bangkok traffic jam!

Stayed at the Bangkok Sahara Hotel on Sukhumvit Soi 5, famed for being the Middle-East street in Bangkok! While walking the street at night, you might mistaken it for a place in Egypt (probably!).

Although Bangkok is well-known for shopping, I did little shopping except for the-very-much-needed clothings (as I brought ONE pair only!) and some fridge magnets (souvenirs). I did however walked a lot and had a wonderful time sightseeing and people-watching.

I left Bangkok on Monday, 11 December 06. I had a morning flight at 9.30am and because I do not want to be caught during the rush-hour jam, I set out at 6.00am and reached Suvarnabhumi aiport in just 30 minutes by a metered-taxi. Ironically, the flight to LCCT, Sepang was delayed for nearly two hours (again with the delay!!) and the flight to Sepang took another two hours. Finally, I reached home at 4.30pm.... HOME SWEET HOME!

Pros:"A bargain-hunter shopping haven!"
Cons:"Language barriers make conversation difficult. Also, not enough information in English (brochures, pamhplets, etc) on their tourist attractions."
In A Nutshell:"Everything Under the Sun and More!"
