Restaurant Name: Tad's Broiled Steaks

Located on Powell Street about halfway in between the BART station and Union Square, Tad's Broiled Steaks is an excellent and affordable place to eat. You can't miss it as the sign is lit up with neon lights that sparkle. The food is served cafeteria style in that your order the meal first and then they call you when it ready. The pricing however is excellent for $13.95 you get a large steak, a soft baked potato, and a big slice of buttered, garlic French bread. For $8.95 you get a hamburger steak with the same sides. The food is truly excellent and you can't beat the price and location!

Restaurant Name: Claypot

The biggest problem with eating out in Chinatown is choosing where to eat because from a taste perspective everything tastes great in Chinatown! I have yet to eat a tasteless meal in Chinatown, so the real differentiator for me is the price and selection. I found the Claypot to be excellent in both regards. I had the Mongolian Chicken with Prawns for $8.95, its was a rather large portion and the taste was outstanding. The chicken was spicy and tender and the shrimp were plump and tasty. The only downside is they charge extra for steamed rice even though they lead you to believe its part of the meal. However its only $1.50 more and considering the taste and price of the main course its worth the cost. The Claypot is a excellent mid range choice if your looking for excellent food at budget prices! Its located on the west side of Grant Street on its northern most end.

Restaurant Name: Trattoria Pinocchio

Located in the Italian district in North Beach, Trattoria Pinocchio is a wonderfully authentic Italian eatery in both menu and atmosphere. They offer outdoor seating right along Columbus Ave and in the middle of all the street life and action. The waiters all seem to speak Italian as well as English and are very cordial and efficient. The food is wonderful, their pasta's are rich and aromatic and have a taste of their own. My favorite dish is the Chicken Parmigainia with spaghetti in tomato sauce, its runs about $15 and their version of it is the best I have ever had. The bread that comes with all the meals is worth the visit in itself, its lightly crusted on the outside and soft and chewy inside. I make it a point to visit Trattoria Pinocchio at least once on every visit I make, its really that good!
