The city of San Francisco is a rare, delicate beauty that can be appreciated by all and yet at the same time can go unnoticed. It's beauty is both on the outside and the inside at the same time. With one sweeping glance of the city the beauty is self evident, but the true beauty of the city lies within. Much like any true beauty it takes effort and patience to be able to appreciate what others can't see. To get to know San Francisco is to take to the streets, pound the pavement, and see the city from the perspective of a pedestrian as opposed to a tourist in a car. The streets and the buildings of the city mesh into the hills like fine leather glove to a hand. Seeing Union Square and Coit Tower is one thing, but to be able to walk the streets and neighborhoods in between them is what inspires wonder. Old world architecture intermingled with modern skyscrapers dominate the view and offer something fresh to see with every block. Where else in the world can you go from walking down a street that takes you into heart of the Chinese culture and then without warning thrusts you into the heart of the Italian district, full of the smell of tomatoes and bread? In San Francisco the melting pot of the world is simmering with perfection, just waiting to be sampled. But don't expect it to be delivered to you on a silver platter, much like anything in life worth experiencing you have to go out and get it. As the Ramone's sing...."Hey Ho...Lets Go!" |
