Finding Your Place in the Sun I found Maranola to be the most peaceful of all the villages in Cinque Terre. It's a village dedicated to old world style of fishing. You will see fishermen in ancient , old school fishing boats out in the water, oblivious to the modern world around them. The village is small and tightly constructed, the streets seem to always be in the shade, lined with fishing boats. Tourism may have descended upon the rest of Cinque Terre but Maranola seems to have somehow kept its old world charm intact. Towards the end of the day you will find the senior citizens of Maranola sitting on the stone benches along the trail that leads to Corniglia by the harbor, catching the fading rays of sunlight. Take the chance to go back in time for at least a few hours and visit this quaint village. |
