The Heart of Cinque Terre Though some would say Corniglia is the heart of Cinque Terre because of its location in the center of the five villages, I would say its Riomaggiore. The first of the five fishing village running from south to north, Riomaggiore is the most vibrant. The village looks as though it was carved right into the mountain and it also boasts the best views of the entire length of Cinque Terre. Riomaggiore is also seemed to be the largest of the five villages and even though I visited in off season the vast majority of the shops and cafe's were open. Riomaggiore is combination of everything that make Cinque Terre special, with its brightly colored buildings that seem to glow in the sunlight, and a secluded beach with the steep mountainside acting as a shield from the rest of the world, Riomaggiore stands out as the jewel of Cinque Terre. |
