Vernazza is the most well known of all the five villages of Cinque Terre, with its stunning location on an outcropping of rock, Vernazza is also the most picturesque village as well. Whether your hiking to Vernazza from Montresso or Corniglia, the views of the village from the trail well have you staring like a slack jawed yokel. Like most of the other villages, Vernazza is nestled into the mountain, but what sets it apart is the part of the village that is built on outcropping of rock that stretches out into the ocean. At the very tip of the rock rises a old brick watchtower that stands like a sentinel, guarding the village for all time and eternity. The beauty of Vernazza is not necessarily from within but from the outside views of the village. So pull up a chair, have your camera ready and take in one gem of a view!
