"A Very Pleasant Town in Pyrenees-Orientales" Prades by avino

Perfect Climate, Delicious Food, Great Wine

40 km to ski lifts, 50 to the Mediterranean Sea, 40 km from Perpignan along a perfect road with cherry, peach and appricot orchards on both sides. Swimming season from June to September, skiing season starts in December and lasts until March/April.
You can ski - and get back in the evening to the town, where the treas are green and temperature is about 10-15 degrees C. You can spend a day on the beach and get heavely suntanned - and that come back to Prades and spend a refreshing evening at the terrace of a bar, and temperature will be only 25-26 degrees C. And there is no wind - rather annoying further on to the east.
A good range of resraurants, bars and cafes at the central square and along the main street, including one Chinese, though I suppose nobody comes to France to eat Chinese food.
And a lot of wine related activity all around the area, as Languedoc-Roussillon is one of the world's largest winemaking regions. There is a winemaker's village at a 6 km distance from the town and you can also by very nice local wines when market comes to town and this happens every Tuesday and Saturday.
We were surprised by the prices of fresh vegetables and fruit, though perhaps we shouldn't : the Tet valley is growing cherry, appricots, peaches and apples for the whole of France.
