The Caroline Church is a good place to start your exploration of the original settlement area of the Town of Brookhaven in Setauket. It is located on the northern side of the Setauket Village green. On the east is the 1812 Setauket Presbyterian Church. The graveyard of the church dates to the beginning of the settlement in 1655. On the south is the 1892, Queen Anne style, Emma S. Clark Memorial Library.
From here you can walk north along Bates Road to the Three Village Garden Club Sanctuary which runs down to Conscience Bay.
From here you can also walk west along Main St., with its historic houses to the Setauket Mill Pond, the Frank Melville Memorial Park, the Setauket Neighborhood House and the Greek revival Setauket Post Office with its Latrobe-style corn cob capitals.
