OK - so strictly there are a lot more than that in finland, but it seemed to alliterate well!
I've been to Finland twice now, and on both occasions have spent some time in Helsinki, and then moved on further north to a little log cabin surrounded by trees. I still think this is the best way to see the country, and the dichotomy between hi-tech Helsinki and the more rural north. |
| | Hi-Tech Helsinki Helsinki has become something of a cool city in recent years (dare we say Nokia), and has a nice baltic feel. Lots to do, or buy, or simply just wander in the relaxed open plan centre.
Photo is of the central Lutherian church. |
| | Forest & Lake Finland is quite a big place - about three times the size of the UK for example, but with a popluation a fraction of it - so there is an auful lot of this.
If you want a bit of a chance to get away from it all, then this is the place. Have a sauna and swim 'au naturel' of course, then later on fish and BBQ by the lakeside with your catch - naturally washed down with a nice tipple.
This is what the Finns do, and personally I can't think of a nier way to relax... |
