Me, Juliane, my cousin Enne and Rafa - Rio de Janeiro

Me, Juliane, my cousin Enne and Rafa

A GOOD MUSEUM...FROM OUTSIDE :)

Favorite thing: Good arts are seen in Fine Arts Museums where we can follow our the ages of our master piece, with famous painters like Picasso, Monet, Velasquez and the great brazilians Fontenelle Brothers we do not need to see a painting where any MODERNIST PAINTER DRAW A LINE and other stupid people simply name it "art".....But the museum itself in Niteroi is really one of the most impressive construction in our modern arquitecture, so we will just see the museum from outside, the view is really breathtaking.

The Museum is a construction of the famous architect Oscar Niemeyer and every day in Niteroi you should stop there for at least 10 minutes, except on mondays.

The wedding cake in downtown Rio - Rio de Janeiro

The wedding cake in downtown Rio

STROLLING AROUND OLD RIO

Favorite thing: Walking in Rio downtown is a class of History, a simple afternoon there you can see many different periods of our architecture since the time when Rio was the capital of the Nation and Brazil still a colony of Portugal.

Old buildings like this one, the WEDDING CAKE, right located in the corner of Almirante Barroso Street with Graça Aranha.

Me and Rafa at Tijuca Forest - Rio de Janeiro

Me and Rafa at Tijuca Forest

RIO IS GREEN

Favorite thing: When you walk in the streets of Rio you quickly note lots of trees, shady streets specially in the southern part of the town, when you decide to visit the forests of Rio you will see that people are used to eb all surrounded by green and their nature is their main things that make a CARIOCA happy...The people is all surrounded by a thick greenery everywhere they go, specially when we walk at the Paineiras, one of the hidden parts of Tijuca Forest that I had the honor to see....INDEED WHEN WE HAVE SUCH A GREAT CITY LIKE RIO, WE FIND MANY REASONS TO COME BACK AND STAY. I have found mine!

Fondest memory: Floresta da tijuca is part of many tours offered in Rio, but they never explore the area as locals do, so it is better for you to try to get someone who loves the city and simply know how to enjoy life in the best and privileged spots of Rio.

Me and Rafa in São Bento Church - Rio de Janeiro

Me and Rafa in São Bento Church

THE GLORIOUS PAST

Favorite thing: Remember that Rio is not only a beach destination or just a tropical place in South America, first Rio is not a tropical region, the region here is what they call "tempered", but enough heat for you to remember that you are in the south of our Americas...ANYWAY, this is not to discuss geography but to remind you that Rio is one of the oldest cities in South America and it was colonized by the Portuguese, and in the very beggining of our History religious missionaries came and start constructing churches, conventries and monasteries...and of of them called SAO BENTO is one of the jewels of portuguese architecture and colonial baroc that was made out of Europe, this church in its interior is all covered by cold and noble wood and it was built in 1576..long long time a go!!!

A visit to the MOSTEIRO DE SÃO BENTO is reaaaaaaaaally worth. I went there in one of my trips to Rio, Rafael, of course, wanmted me to elarn much more about Rio, and the best way to elarn history is being in places where history happened.

Fondest memory: To get there you should go to the city centre, very close to the CRUISE LINE PIER called Praça Mauá, right where the famous Rio Branco Avenue starts.

The full address is Rua Dom Gerardo, 68 - Centro

Not easy to be a friend of an adventurer - Rio de Janeiro

Not easy to be a friend of an adventurer

AIR RACE IN RIO

Favorite thing: I was lucky to be in Rio in April 20th, 2007 that a very important air craft competition took place in Rio de Janeiro. My friend Rafael knows everything about the city, and he recommended me to join him and his mother to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain where we could see the whole competition and also avoid the crowd in the beach of Botafogo!

The first hill of Urca was packed but not as much as the rest of the population who was lying on the beach and Flamengo's Park.

Rafael had the daft idea to reach the abyss and seat over there to have a privilege view, and guess what? I am afraid of hight!!! BUT HE CONVINCED ME!!!

That was me trying to go down the wall to the rock....

Me at Bip Bip in Copacabana - Rio de Janeiro

Me at Bip Bip in Copacabana

ONE OF THE TEMPLES OF BOSSA NOVA - BIP BIP

Favorite thing: For sure you have heard something about BOSSA NOVA, it is what Tango is to Argentina, BOSSA NOVA has the same meaning for Rio de Janeiro.

Every wednesday in a short tiny bar in Copacabana you can see real CARIOCA PEOPLE perfoming BOSSA NOVA just like Tom Jobim did when he started his career!!!

THE GIRL FROM IPANEMA
HOW INSENSITIVE
AND CORCOVADO are songs of Bossa Nova that you might have heard this "sort of brazilian jazz", and you can experience such a local thing in a ded end street of Copacabana.

THE STREET STANDS IN FRONT OF POINT FIVE AT ATLANTICA AVENUE IN COPACABANA BEACH, when you see in teh corner a hotel called DEBRET, that is the ebst reference for you to reach BIB BIP.

If you go there you will find me, or you will meet Rafael, Patricia, Miti and Lena.

Copacabana Fortress - complete views of Rio! - Rio de Janeiro

Copacabana Fortress - complete views of Rio!

THE FAMOUS POSTO SEIS IN COPACABANA

Favorite thing: As I said above you can divide Copacabana into section, and POSTO SEIS is perhaps themost interesting part of Copacabana Beach, for several reasons, this is the part of the beach closer to another fascinating beach, Ipanema beach, more residential oriented and also it has the best bars and discos in the city.

Another cool reason that you should stay in this area is safety, it is close to a military fortress which also opens for the public, inside you can enjoy many different views of the Ocean including the Sugar Loaf.

There is a very traditional fishemen association in the end of the beach where you can buy fish every morning!

And more other facilities like shops, restaurants, cinemas, theatres and discos!

And also more than 5 groceries!

The easier way to identify this area is spotting the Fortress in the end of the beach!!!
