| | Løkken Since the first houses were built in Løkken in 1678, the town developed into the most important loading and unloading site for trade between Vendsyssel and southern Norway, where grain, butter and meat were traded for timber and iron. The town still has large warehouses dating back from the time of this small vessel trade that ceased on around 1900. Løkken was one of the largest fishing villages on the west coast for boats that were pulled up onto the beach. The old fishing milieu with jetty berths, danger signal station, tar area and lifeboat station (now the museum for coastal fishing) still exists. At the end of the 19th century the first holidaymakers arrived, and Løkken developed into a popular seaside resort. Today Løkken is a service and holiday town which has managed to preserve the remnants of the past. |
