Mexico City Thanksgiving

Playing House

For my 31st birthday, we went to Mexico City because we were out of vacation time and money to go to Europe this year. I rented a two bedroom condo in La Condesa Hippodroma which was a nice, safe neighborhood. Every morning, we would first stop at Pet & Net to check email and our bank accounts. Then, we took the Sevilla metro stop every morning to the Zocolo, Templo Mayor, Chapultepec Park, National Anthropology Museum, Autobus Norte Terminal to the pyramids, Cuidadela Market or to San Angel's Saturday Bazaar. Every night, when we returned home, we would stop in Sumesa for snacks, soda and breakfast food and then rest at home before going to dinner and the movies. We were lucky to live between two of the largest malls in Mexico City, so at night, we had safe and entertaining places to go. I think this will be my No. 1 fallback when I can't get to Asia or Europe each year.
