Reborn as a traveler :)

by SailorRoar - last update: Apr 14, 2008

The turning point; Australia and Thailand

Sunset Beach, Ko Tao, Thailand 2004
I have allways loved to travel, but I didn't to to much of it before 2003 when I finally decided to follow my dream of many years, and moved to the other side of the world. To be specific I moved to Australia and Wollongong, to study for my Masters degree, get a tan and see the world ;) I traveled together with three of my friends, and during one year we managed to see most of the east and southeast coast of Australia. In addition we got a two weeks stopover in Thailand on our way back to Norway. Australia is a country with a lot of dagnerous animals and bugs, but I only got bitten by the travel bug ;)

See my home country, Norway

When I returned from Australia I decided that I wanted to do more traveling, and I soon realized that the world was just outside my bedroom window. I started by seeing a lot more of Norway. So far I have mostly seen the southern part of Norway so I haven't had the pleasure of seeing the midnight sun yet. Hopefully we will be able to see this incredible part of Norway from Hurtigruten (maybe the world most beautiful sea journey) sometime soon.

Europe a lot to offer aswell

Even though Norway is a great country the urge for something more exotic soone emerged. It was time to see more of Europe. Just in 2006 alone I managed to see 14 countries across Europe (Norway, Sweden, Latvia, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Italy, France and Monacco), In addition I have had the pleasure of visiting Denmark, Iceland, Cyprus and Spain in other years. Europe is nothing short of heaven for the travel interested, and I am lucky enough to have it right on my doorstep. Check out my travelpage to see what I mean and get inspiration :)
Golden Gate, San Francisco 2007

U-S-of-A

2007 was one of the best years of my life, I was lucky enough to get to marry my beautiful wife and go on a fantastic honeymoon across the Atlantic Ocean to the United States. We visited New York, Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, San Diego, Monterey, Santa Cruz and San Francisco. It was a fantastic trip.

Photographing the world

Along with the interesst of traveling came the interesst of photography. So a good size bag of photo gear has become a good travel companion. I hope you enjoy the photos that I post here, and that they inspire you to go out and see the world. There are more of them in my galleries and travel page. Enjoy!

Great advice about the Color Line ferries. I'm so ignorant about Norwegian geography hehe.

Enjoy California! You and your wife should really enjoy it. We plan on visiting Norway in 2009 so we will surely be using your tips at that time.
