Bastimentos is an island off of Bocas Del Toro. The only way to get there is in a small boat that the locals will carry you on for $2.00
when you arrive, you walk onto the land, passing the coastal houses on stilts
they have ONE SIDE WALK that runs parallel to the water for about 1/2 a mile. It ends at one side of the island and thats it.
I did not see more that one little store, where the locals can pick up some goods for the day.
What do they do there? sleep eat and fish I guess, cause theres not much going on. Oh yes, they play softball, there was a big softball court there.
The people of Bastimentos are Caribbean Black island folks, they speak a sort of pato, like one would hear in Jamaica. It is much different than bocas del toro.
walking passed the houses, we continued on a small footpath dirt road.
The land started to rise with breadfruits and banana farms. After walking for about 45 minutes, we finally reached a site for the eyes.
A camp on the north side of the island for surfers and many travelers.
Here the sea was wild that day, brown sugar sand, and blue skies.
