Restaurant Name: Seven Sky Bar (Restaurant)
In our search for the best view restaurants in St Petersburg the Seven Sky Bar Restaurant deserves notice. It is on top of the Grand Palace shopping Center and looks across the Russian Museum to the Church on the Spilled Blood. Only the Renaissance Terrace Bar competes with it in our search. It has two view levels in front of a slanted wall of windows and a stair to the roof patio in summer with unsurpassed views. During the week they have a business lunch special, 20% off the menu price between 1-5 pm. The food is gourmet, really tasty and staff are usually friendly. No reservations unless for groups. Closed on New Years eve in 2007- 8.
Favorite Dish: Coffee and dessert are very good and you can enjoy the view. Desserts 200 rubles. The Osaka Pizza, beef, tuna, chinese cabbage and other gourmet ingredients is surprisingly good. 290 rubles, medium size, 8 small pieces. And a glass of champagne is 190 rubles.

Restaurant Name: Renaissance Terrace Bar
The Terrace Bar of the Renaissance Hotel has the one of the best views in St. Petersburg and food and service to match. We went at 6 pm and it was uncrowded and very pleasant. The Petunias smelled nice and the close view of St. Isaac's was superb. You can watch all the people who paid 200 rubles to climb the collonade for a view. But you get a great view for free and can spend your rubles on dessert or drinks!!!
Favorite Dish: The tiramisu was fantastic, best we have seen. It has local berries adorning it and tastes great. See picture!

Restaurant Name: Panorama Restaurant Hotel Moscow
The best part of the the new 2007 Panorama restaurant is its view. The Moscow Hotel remodeled and added an eighth floor restaurant. Only one elevatror, the one on the right, can go to the 8th floor. In a city dominated by 18th century 4-5 story buildings, it is a pretty good view. The restaurant is a narrow strip along the front of the building facing the Neva river and streets. Prettiest at night.
Favorite Dish: Salads for 200 rubles, main dishes 3-400 rubles. You pay for the view. It is open 24 hours, which fits those with jet lag very well.

Restaurant Name: Russian Fishing Restaurant -- Russkaya Rybalka
A famous restaurant located on Krestovsky Ostrov where you can catch your own dinner. Sterlet, Eel, Crawfish and several others are available in the ponds adjacent to teh restaurant. You buy your fish by it's weight. Price is 500 -1500 rubles per kilogram, it can be expensive, especially if the fish is big. A 1.5 kilo Sterlet is $2500 rubles, almost $100. But is is a rare and fresh fish. The menu does not give the size of the portions as most Russian restaurants do, and accordingly, the portions are very small. The vegetable stew with mushrooms, about 4 tablespoons. The Tuna Avocado salad about 6 tablespoons. Very pretty location and frequented by VIP guests. You can walk by for free and there is a petting zoo for children nearby. The fishing supervisor is nice and patient and may gie a nice tour of teh ponds and fish if you ask. Private VIP wood huts are available for $70 hour . Regular chairs are fee, but dinner is pricey.
Favorite Dish: Catch your own trout, sturgeon, and beluga sterlet- and you get to pay for it too ... Baked eggplant for vegetarian diners. There are ducks also in the ponds, but have not heard of anyone convincing the chef to cook one yet :)
