Wakayama Prefecture

Living and working near the border of Osaka Prefecture and Wakayama Prefecture, I've managed to spend a lot of time in both areas. The contrast between urban Osaka and the wilderness in Wakayama is quite vast once you get past Wakayama City. Getting by without a car in Wakayama is possible, but not as easy as in other parts of Japan. It's one of those few kinds of places in Japan where public transport isn't so convenient. Home to a number of Japan's UNESCO World Heritage sites, it's richness in culture as well as nature hasn't gone unnoticed. Now it's just up to the adventurer spirit in you to get off Kansai's unbeaten path.

That's a nice opening photo! Have never been to the Kansai area yet. Wakayama seems like an interesting place to visit.
