Sam Houston Tollway isn't ideal place to sightsee

Having enjoyed my visit to the Texas Hill Country so familiar from the mysteries in the China Bayles series, I was heading to Houston, site of the Leann Sweeney's Abby Rose mysteries. If there was one thing Abby taught me, it was that Houston's complex system of interstate highways was not for the faint of heart. After evaluating the relative merits of getting lost and having to pay a toll, I opted for the latter and made my way relatively swiftly from Point A (I-10) to Point B (I-45), only rarely catching site of something which might have been America's third-largest city. Well, there was SOMETHING there, anyway! But I'll need to see it on my next pass through the Lone Star State.
