"Music City for the non-Opry tourist" Nashville by Bunsch

But I don't really LIKE country music!

I'm barely literate where country music is concerned, having managed somehow to miss the Grand Old Opry in several visits to Nashville and being mostly a child of the rockin' 60s. So it was with mixed feelings that I contemplated spending several days in Music City to attend a graduation. What I discovered was a warm and friendly metropolis where no one asked for my "country credentials" -- a place where I could actually enjoy the delights of live music in every bar, and where the BBQ was outstanding.

I grew up listening to the Good Old One and Only WLS National Barn Dance from the Eighth Street Theater Hayloft in Downtown Chicago, rather than the Grand Old Opry. But I enjoyed reading your Nashville tips, especially the one on the Ryman Auditorium.
