Capitol of the State of Franklin

Jonesborough has, over the past 39 years, become known to cognoscenti as the venue for the National Storytelling Festival, which takes place each October, housed in a series of immense tents dotted around the town. But it bills itself as the oldest town in Tennessee, and was briefly the capitol of the State of Franklin (yes, after Benjamin), an artifact of colonial history about which most people outside the present State of Tennessee know almost nothing.
