"Travel Destination" Winter by ronpetit
Winter Travel Guide: 10 reviews and 19 photos
Winter is a quaint, peaceful little town in northern Wisconsin. It is small, safe, friendly and a great place to spend a summer or winter vacation as well as a fast growing place for second home owners and those wanting a more serene retirement.
In the summer there is fishing, boating, water skiing, camping and resorting to occupy your time. In the winter months, there are ample places to snowmobile, ATV, snow shoe, cross country ski or dine out. One of my personal favorites is to go for walks down secluded winter trails. Just getting as far away from it all as I can and taking in the peacefulness and the slower rhythms of nature is healing.
Over the July 4th holiday, there is a street parade, softball tournament, truck pull and other events for entertainment.
Winter has long been known for its excellent education from the primary grades through high school. Many high school graduates go on to college. On the all time honor roll is Jeff Williams, NASA Space Shuttle and Space Station astronaut and Ken Biller, RayoVac Batteries Engineer and Executive in charge of European operations.
The Winter school has top notch instructors in chemistry, biology, computer technology, shop, math and more.
Sometimes we need the rejuvinating power of nature to help us sluff off stress, refocus and reclaim a little vitality and relaxation. Winter offers this resource in spades. Located in the heart of the Chequamegon National Forest and the Flambeau River State Forest along with the Chippewa River, Chippewa Flowage, Brunet River and many lakes, campgrounds and resorts, you will be able to find that special place where you can let the world go by.
- Pros:Peaceful, friendly, very low crime, natural beauty, good education, growing business climate
- Cons:For major purchases you need to travel 30 miles,
- In a nutshell:Peaceful, friendly, down to earth town.
