Sunset over the Louvre on Pont Neuf from my window

Home Base - Paris, toujours Paris

Can one beat the aesthetic beauty and cultural richness of Paris? I am doubly lucky to have a friend who paints in Aveyron and has rented me his apartment in his 17C dynastic family home on Ile-de-la-Cité: The Seine flowing at my feet with its colourful traffic of barges, bateaux mouches and the Louvre and Pont Neuf as backdrop.
Winter in the Canadian Countryside

Winter in Canada

As a Canadian I am a great fan of winter and nothing beats the true white phosphorescence of dry snow at moonlight in deep winter in the country.
Algonquin Park in September

Canadian Great Outdoors

Another great boon of the Canadian countryside is that 50km north of the population belt hugging the USA border, you access endless nature with onbounded space.
Kalmar Castle in February

Sweden - Kalmar Castle

Work has permitted me to visit different countries where I try to spend enough time (3 years on the average) to learn the language, appreciate the culture through travel and meeting people.

On a visit to the famous Crystal shops in SE Sweden one spectacular place is Kalmar Castle in winter.
Commuting from Wat Arun by Fast Boat

Wat Arun by Fast Boat

The calm of the Wat at daybreak whisked to/from by the fast boats on the Chao Praya - The juxtaposition of the Sublime and the Profane
Sumela Monastery, Turkey

Sumela Monastery - Mystical Magic

Sumela Monastery is a short minibus ride north of Trabzon - a Turkish port city on the Black Sea. It still exudes its Mystical Magic across the millenia shrouded in mist
Leopard at Dawn, Inyati Lodge, RSA

Rarest 'spot' of the Big 5

The majestic leopard is one of the rarer spottings of the Big 5 - The scouts were successful in this outing at the Inyati Lodge on the western entrance of the Kruger Park.
Cappuccino at Bathers' Pavilion, Sydney

The Best Cappuccino?

The Bathers' Pavilion at Balmoral Beach, Sydney is an oasis of great views and a notable stop to savour and linger over the best cappuccinos this side of Milano.
