Located North of Jordan, and overlooks the lake of Tabareya & the Gulan heights. This site was one of the 10 Decapolis cities of the Roman empire & was considered a strong fortress. But what brings me back to this place is what lies beyond the beautiful ruins. This is the closest i can get to the occupied lands. From the top of the hill I can see life on the other side. Fairooz, the diva of Arab singers sings and say: Oh far away hill .... Behind you are my loved ones .... Your pain is tiering us .... We wait for the promises ... We wait .... |
| | Beyond the ruins .... Another thing that brings me back here, are the people. Living around the great historical ruins, and going on by their daily routine. Kids consider the ruins their play ground & know a lot of stories about discoveries & secret myths! the villagers are welcoming & would -for sure- offer you milk in spring time, if you were nice enough to smile at them ... Don't be intimidated by their harsh look..... as this is only long hours of hardship under the sun .... |
