A city climbing the hills ...

by onfoot - last update: Jan 20, 2007

A city that requires patience ...

Being surrounded by major capitales like Baghdad, Jerusalem & Damascus ... leaves Amman at the bottom of the list for people touring the ME. Personally, I think the Amman experience is a non-replacable one.
Amman combines most of the Middle East's extrems .... Old/new .... green/desert ... traditional/modern.
One could say, but so does Lebanon or Syria ... But each of these have one side that is over powering .... The balance in Amman's contradictions is what one will see if s/he spends sometime in the beautiful city.

Amman is divided into 3 major parts; Eastren, Western & Northen Southern.
Estern Amman is where the old city is located, it's less privileged but has more character than the rest of the city.
Western Amman is the modern rich part of the city. Where you can find all the modern new caffes, bars, shops and Malls.
Southern Northen Amman is more residential, middle classed and di further away from the busy center.
