The Mocca Club is Vienna´s Speciality Coffee House & Bar, featuring the biggest selection of single origin coffees. The Mocca Club offer over 45 freshly roasted single origin coffees and blends from all over the world. The Coffee can be Jamaica Blue Mountain, Kopi Luwak, or coffee beans from Hawaii, Kenya, Colombia, China, Costa Rica, Yemen, or Australia. Besides the speciality coffee, they have a selection of creamy, hot-chocolates, whole leaf teas, pastries, international chocolates, breakfast and small snacks day and night, cocktails for the evening hours and world music all day round. Happy hour is from 6 -8 pm; 50% off the cocktail prices. Another nice thing about this Club is the colonial hardwood furnitures that decorate the interiors. You can sit in these furnitures, enjoy your coffee or chocolate or cocktails, and/or relax, read a book, etc. Mocca Club is located at Vienna´s Naschmarkt, on Linke Wienzeile 4, 1060 Vienna (6th district); next to the Wine & Co. Wine bar.

Off The Beaten Path: EDUARD A. FRUTH CONFECTIONERY

I was walking along the Kettenbrücken gasse when I came upon this new confectionery (sweets) shop called "Eduard A. Fruth, Kuchen-und-Tortenmanufaktur" - selling chocolate brownies, chocolate mousse, uniquely flavoured chocolate spreads (chilli, chestnuts/maroni, etc.), chocolate-covered almonds, cakes and many more. I happened to meet the owner/baker one day in Dec 2006. I was browsing through the shop wondering what to buy for my best friend’s grandmother, who loves to bake and makes great Christmas cookies. I found out that he used to work in Switzerland specializing in chocolates and other sweet/baked confections. Now he has retired, he decided to open this shop as his hobby. He makes/bakes most of the confections in the shop and he uses high quality products in his foods. I ended buying 2 kinds of cakes, almond dragée (almonds coated with chocolate), orange cookies, and a chocolate mousse. I must say that every thing tasted good and rich. If you want to enjoy the confections without leaving the shop, you can eat it there and have a cup of coffee as well. Fruth is located at Kettenbrücken gasse 20.

Off The Beaten Path: Great Cappuccino for Euro 1.50 ~ in Vienna?

I was browsing through the Kettenbrucken gasse (street) off the Naschmarkt when I came upon this shop called Bendinelli Home Store. It mainly sells coffee and food products from Bendinelli company. They also sell austrian wines, apricot nectar/syrup, schapps/grappa and jams. However, I was more interested in the coffee brewed and sold using the coffee beans sold by them. As side business, they sell coffee (espresso, cappucino, latte, etc.) and pastries/cakes. And the prices were really reasonable. I paid only Euro 1.50 for a cup of excellent cappucino. They don't have tables and chairs for seating down (maybe they will do this in the future), but they have stands and bar stools where you can park your butt for 5-10 minutes enjoying the excellent aromatic coffee. So, if you happen to walk by the Naschmarkt, just stroll over to Kettenbruckengasse 19 and enjoy a cup of excellent cappuccino or espresso.

Take the Schellbahn from Karlplatz and enjoy the 2-hour ride to Baden, a small town outside of Vienna, famous for the thermal bath and Casino gambling. It also has a beautiful rose garden in summer and a large park for hiking and walking.

parks & gardens: Don't Miss the Japanese Garden in 19th District

In the 19th District, there is a lovely Japanese garden called the Setagaya Park, which was designed by a landscape gardener named Ken Nakajima from Japan in 1992. The Setagaya Park is 4000 sq. metres and it copies a Japanese landscape with a few ponds and streams, stone structures, and densely-planted vegetations that are typical of Japanese gardens. The large central pond even has live Japanese goldfishes and water lilies. There is also a Japanese tea house, a "Yukimi style" stone lantern, several stone sculptures and a fountain, as well as a poem set in stone at the entrance to the garden. The garden is planted with Japanese maples, ornamental cherry trees and moor bedding plants such as azaleas and other beautiful flowers. The Setagaya Park is not so large but it is beautiful, peaceful and quiet. The regular visitors are the retirees, whose retirement complex is located just next to this beautiful japanese garden. The Japanese garden is located in 19th district, Hohe Warte/Gallmeyer-gasse. You can take the underground train U4 to Heilegenstadt (end-station), then bus 10A, until 2nd stop. Or you can take Tram 37. How to get there

Whenever you have time and the weather is sunny, don't miss out on a romantic boat cruise along the Danube River to towns of Krems, Durnstein and Melk along the Wachau valley. The Wachau is an Austrian valley and one of the most prominent tourist destinations of Lower Austria, located between the towns of Melk and Krems. It is 30 km in length. A well-known place and tourist magnet is Dürnstein, where King Richard the Lion-Heart of England was held captive for ransom by Duke Leopold V. Nowadays, there is a ruin castle up the Durnstein hills. You can take the Blue Danube river cruise.

Stammersdorf - located in the 21st district of Vienna - is where the good local Heurigers (wine taverns/pubs) and wineguts/wineries are. If you want to know where the locals go to eat and drink excellent food and wine, don't go to Grinzing or Neustift in the 19th district. Instead, go to Stammersdorf ... !!This northern part of Vienna, separated off from the city by the Danube river, is known locally as Trans-Danubien. Created by rapid urban development, this once rather poor part of the city made a strong recovery. The Heurigers in Stammersdorf have remain (for the most part) unspoilt, simple and low-key. The reason is because few tourists come here, and prices are much cheaper than in 19th district - Grinzing and Neustift. Take a walk along the Keller strasse; you can find small houses with subterranean wine cellars - it's where wine is stored until it is mature enough to drink. There are several good Heurigers and weinguts in Stammersdorf. Best time to go is during the warm months starting from April/May until September/October. You can sit out in the garden and enjoy the warm days and cool balmy evenings with a few glasses of excellent Austrian wines and roasted pork. To get to Stammersdorf, you can take the Tram 31 from Schottenring (U4) or Floridsdorf (U4 or U6). Or you can take the regional bus 228 from Floridsdorf to Stammersdorf Kellerstrasse. Have a good time exploring the Heurigers in Stammersdorf.
