"CARINTHIA or KARTEN (in German)" Bundesland Karnten by longsanborn

I spent the last April weekend in the beautiful Austrian countryside of Styria (Steiermark) and Carinthia (Kaernten) regions.

Above is a picture I took from the Pyramidenkogel, a high 850 meters tall (2789 feet) lookout tower built on a high hill overlooking the Worther Lake and its surrounding area. I got the most fantastic view of the whole valley and mountains. I could see the surrounding towns and village resorts around Worther Lake, the Karawanken Alps to the south and several neighboring lakes.

It cost only Eur 6 to use the elevator to reach the top of the tower. However, I was told that in the near future, the Pyramidenkogel will be destroyed and a newer modern structure will be stand in its place. So, it's better to go there while the Pyramidenkogel still stands; don't know when the new tower will be ready and it will probably cost more to get to the top.

Worther Lake is the warmest lake in Austria; in summer, it is said that the temperature of its waters reaches 24 - 28 degrees Celsius. The largest resort town by the Lake is Velden and it has a casino. The rest are smaller towns and villages such as Maria Worth, Krumpendorf, Portschach, and Reifnitz.
