A city of amazing architecture | Colorful buildings on a canal |
Peter the Great modeled St Petersburg on cities of the West, but it still has all the flavor of Russia. Palaces and monuments seem to appear at every turn, as well as beautiful onion-domed churches. Set on rivers and canals, the city is just one big photo-op. I found it a bit overwhelming, but beautiful and fascinating at the same time. |
