Norfolk Island Transportation
Sort by: Most Recent | Best Rated | Author's Order

Transportation: One and Only Taxi
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • 'Mode': AROUND
    Category: Car/Motor Home
Getting TO/AROUND: Please note there is only ONE taxi on the whole island - at the moment you can call the taxi for free from any public or local phone on the island (all local phonecalls on the island are currently free - might change shoon).

However, your accommodation normally comes with a hire car included, if not, you may hire a car for AUD$25 per day, and if you are staying with friends/relatives, I am sure they will have no hesitation in running you around or having you borrow their car.

Remember, the island is only 5 by 8klms, so when in need feel free to stick your thumb out and any local who comes by will take you whereever you need to go.

    Transportation: Most Important Road Rule
  • Tip Rating: [Not enough ratings yet]
  • 'Mode': AROUND
    Category: Car/Motor Home
Getting TO/AROUND: Is Please GIVE WAY TO THE COWS, and other non-motorised users of the road (includes little children, ducks, geese etc). Speed limit is 50klms and 30klm on the roads bordering the school during school hours.

There are heavy penalties (financial) for hitting a cow or a calf, but stray and feral chickens are ok.

Hi, I spent 1st week of May on Norfolk & it was great. I broke the record for max kms in a week! I drove on every road & found the Scout Hall with the best view. Kingston is perfect for wandering, Emily Bay for a swim & Puppies Point for sunsets.
