i was born in prato.so i love this place and i wish i will help it to be discovered by worldwild travellers!
prato is a big town in Tuscany!it's famous for textile manifactures until the midlleages period!now this industry gets in troubles for chinese new markets...
prato has a beautiful medieval walls aroud the town and its cathedral is made with marble of Calvana caves ,it's a dark green marble.
we also have a medieval castle named castello dell'imperatore ,it is empty inside because it was used on 2 world war to refuge the homeless.
we have a modern art museum very charming and more famous abroad than in town..
i wish to meet everybody in prato!

porta pistoiese

one of the gates to get into prato is porta pistoiese,it's at the end of via pistoiese the chinatown of prato,the second largest in italy!
the whole citycentre of prato is surrounded of old middleages walls!around the city there are gates to enter in the ancient towncentre.

bisenzio river is a good walk around the city! the bisenzio passes through val di bisenzio a nice mountain zone around... more travel advice
