"Ascension" Ascension by Garrett26

Ascension is a small island in the middle of the south atlantic. I believe there is a 30 day request that is necessary to visit the island. The island is known for the sea turtles arriving and laying eggs. There are a couple of beaches that are decent, but if you like to fish this is a good place to visit. I've only been fishing off the shore and it was fun...I caught an 8 lb grouper, and about 7 others. I hope to get out on the one of the boats before I leave to catch something bigger. The place looks like Mars in most areas, because of the desolate lava rock with no vegetation. The only vegetation to speak of is on Green Mountain that is about 3000 ft high and its a nice hike and escape from the rest of the island. I reallly don't recommend this place for visiting, but everybody has their own opinions.

I went up the dew pond that was built for emergency water supply for passing ships. Its a really cool hike and place to escape the rest of the island.
