I met my husband, quite appropriately, while traveling. I was working abroad in Athens, Greece. He was en route through Europe, so after a couple of weeks of chatting on the phone, we decided to meet somewhere we hadn't been before- Madrid, Spain.
This picture is our very first picture together. Notice the formality ha! I'm trying to lean in, he has his arm (Closest to me) demurely behind him. We had just gotten out of the Prado Museum.
I'm a lucky gal to have married someone with a travel-bug exceeding even my own! |
| | Our second Big Trip After Spain, we commited to a long-distance relationship between Michigan and Texas. Of course we did a lot of local traveling (San Antonio, Houston, Austin... and Lansing, Detroit, Windsor)... but that winter we decided that our itch to travel was beginning to grow- so off we went to Mexico City.
Teothihuacan, Mexico. It was definitely an adventure. |
Then we got Engaged :) We got engaged in LA... I was trying to decide what to post here... because we had trips to LA (my family), and Atlanta (his family) but I decided to settle on the day of our engagement- so here we are!
| | New Orleans Well, its not quite fair to just highlight our international trips, so here's a trip we took (roadtrip from Dallas) to New Orleans (before all the devastation), and it was quite a trip.
Plantation tours, marshes and alligators, Bourbon Street, Jazz and beignets... it was definitely a good time! |
Another thing to know about me- I'm a Francophile Having spent a summer during my undergraduate work in Paris, (and gone back since then)... I absolutely love France.
Also to note- photography is a budding hobby of mine, so while I take a LOT of pictures, it's actually a bit harder to find me IN them. (except when traveling with hubby)
Other places I've lived- Grew up in California, of course. But I spent two years in Bangalore, India too.
| | My favorite Trip of all Time- The Maldives! Ok, so back to life as a married woman.
Our honeymoon destination took months of decision-making angst. We finally chose the Maldives, which was logistically feasible after our marriage in Kolkata, but also met all my requirements: 1- Remote 2- Unusual (aka- not HAWAII!!) 3- Island 4- Somewhere we won't be running around sight-seeing.
The Maldives was the most amazing trip EVER. |
We got married- and the process took 4 months We have family everywhere, and a lot of people to please. When I graduated from Ann Arbor, I moved to Dallas- of course this would not have been appropriate without a 'court' marriage so we did- in May. Then it was off to India for our religious ceremony in July. Then LA for a reception in August. Then Atlanta for a reception in September.
This is one of our MANY pictures.
| | When a Bear marries a Volunteer So I was debating what the final picture on my homepage should be, and decided it should be our alumnis.
I'm a Berkeley Bear. He's a Tennessee Vol.
Makes for an interesting marriage- 'nuf said.
Check out all the rest of my pictures :) Chicago, Seattle, Vancouver, Boston, Egypt, Istanbul, Ireland, Japan....
