"Biggest Little Traffic Jam in the West" Willits by bpwarne

Willits is a dreary little town on Highway 101 of no real distinction other than being the terminus for the Skunk Railroad ride originating in Fort Bragg, Ca. and also being infamous for it's daily traffic jam at the intersection of US101 and the road to Fort Bragg due to the town's inability or insensitivity to realize that the traffic light timing cycle has needed adjustment since first installed. The road narrows to one lane just before the light, nescessitating merging, which only further compounds the aggrevation of sitting in a long line of traffic while the light is red for north/south traffic on US101 while no traffic is traveling in the east/west direction. A prime example of the Northcoast California mindset on how to limit growth I suppose.
If you are passing through (hopefully this is not your destination) on a Friday afternoon be sure to enjoy the protest gathering at the intersection staged weekly by the same tired duet. A prelude of sights to come as you travel north to Garberville, Fortuna, Eureka and points north.
