"Never mind, just keep driving...." Volcán by bpwarne

The town of volcan itself is not very attractive. It sits on a flat mesa which seems a bit like high desert. There are not many restaurants and not much to do in the way of entertainment as a tourist within the town itself. But the scenery improves immensely within minutes once you leave the town going in almost any direction. The big reason to come here for us was to visit Cerro Punta and Volcan Baru itself, just a short drive further up the road.
Volcan is touted as the up and coming place to retire to in the highlands of Panama, the next Boquete. aybe, but we found very little to attract us to it other than the moderate weather. There just is'nt anything here.
Cerro Punta did not disappoint though. A truly magnificent area, Switzerland in the tropics.
