Getting There

We drove to the Osa Penninsula because everyone said not to. Too long, road too bad, too dangerous, too far. Well we found most of what we had heard to be over stated. We had a great experience. The only truly disappointing part of the whole trip was the town of Puerto Jimenez. Not pretty, full of unfriendly expats with an attitude which was quite bewildering. We thought some were role playing 'Indiana Jones' characters. It was almost comical. Other than this town the whole trip was a great experience.
Much of the Osa is not as we had perceived it. A large part of it is not jungle at all, but rather farmland. The road is pave about 1/3 of the way in but, oh is it bad. So many potholes and they are so much harder when you hit them than the ones you encounter on a dirt road that after about 30 minutes of this wou wish for the pavement to run out and the dirt to begin.
