Mr Pham Tan Dung operates nhatrangrivertour, also known as Dung Tour. We highly recommend his services, having utilized them on a one day tour for a group of 18 in Dec, 2006. He was professional, thoughtful, informative. His rates were very reasonable, $20USD/person.

Things To Do: Thap Ba Hot Spring Center (mud baths)

Getting there is easy. I paid $2.50USD for a moto and driver for 2 1/2 hours, he waited for me while at the Thap Ba Hot Springs. The ride out to the hot springs is about 15 minutes from the central beach area. Entry price to mud baths was $5USD ($80000 dong). You can also pay more for a private mud bath tub. Various other packages are offered, some include massage. First you shower with mineral water, then sit in mud bath for 15-20 minutes, shower again with mineral water. Then you take a hydro jets shower with mineral water for 5 minutes, then you just soak in a mineral water pool/tub for 30 minutes, then you may use the swimming pools, there are two of them, very large, for as long as you like. Fantastic, really nice place.

Things To Do: Monkey Island

There are a couple different ways to get to Monkey Island. Most tourists probably go by boat with a group tour from Nha Trang. I rented a moto, $6/day for an automatic in like new condition. I rode up Highway 1 to the ferry to Monkey Island, about 16km from Nha Trang. Ride is very pleasant and it would be very hard to get lost once on Highway 1, headed north. Fee for the ferry was $3USD round trip. There is a restaurant and snack bar/store/souvenier shop for your entertainment while waiting for ferry. you must pay extra to park your moto, however it was only a few thousand dong, about $.25USD and was quite secure, with attendant and receipt. Ferry only takes about ten minutes to cross to Monkey Island. There was no fee other than the $3USD ferry ticket, to enter the island or to see the monkeys. The monkeys are wild, and predominently remain on one side of the island. There are various other attractions on the islands, including scuba diving, paragliding, beaches, jet ski rentals, a restaurant, gardens, etc. The Monkeys are not friendly at all, some are downright nasty, so be careful when approaching. They are quite wild. There is also some type of animal show held every couple hours or so on the island. I did not attend as I have no interest in caged/tamed animal shows.

We both had a great massage at this place, possibly the best we've experienced in Vietnam. Price was about $6/each for a one hour massage which was billed as 'Thai' style but was not as good as the ones we've had in Thailand.
