From the Penon Del Santo monument the promenade stretches about two miles west down the coast and about 3 miles east. The promenade is used extensively in the early morning by the health conscious and in the evening by seemingly everyone from families with young children to the elderly. In the morning most folk seem keen to get their exercise and fresh air whilst the temperature is still low. In the evening it appears that the promenade is the place to be again taking advantage of the cool sea breezes.

The old town is a warren of narrow streets that will keep you busy for days if you like exploring.

There are vast numbers of bars and restaurants and it is difficult not to visit the good ones more than once. The price of a drink and tapa ranged from 1 to 1.5Euro. The majority of tapas bars had at least four different tapas but we never did get as far as a fifth round to discover if we started again at the "primera". In all the bars you have the option to buy a racione(larger portion) of any tapa and many had an additional menu of more elaborate dishes.
