South from Kata Beach there is a elephant farm that makes elephant safaris. There you can meet two cute monkeys for free (tip would be nice tough). You can also buy some bananas and feed the elephants. There are lot of butterflies too.
The monkeys are free, jumping in trees, tussling with each other and trying to steel things from tourists. They got my cigarets on our first meet..

From Batong beach you can take longtail boat to Freedom beach what is about 20 minutes boatdrive from Patong. Not expencive at all. Depends of the boat how meny you can fit in but atleast 6 people. Remember to pargain. Its about 3€ per person I think. The boatdriver usually has the snorkeling equipment for you but you can also rent them when there. He will also wait as long as you want to stay at freedom.
You can see quite big fish and interesting rocks and corals of course. But you need to be careful, never put your feet down and dont touch anything. One of us met there a snakefish, about a meter long with brown and white stripes. It can kill you..
Snorkeling is quite safe if you let the creatures be and just watch them from the surface. And you can always choose how far you go from the shore.
Remember to take some bread with you to feed the fish.

Directions: Longtailboat from Patong beach

You can take longtailboat to coral island anywhere from the south end of phuket. The Island is not far, about ½ hours drive and costs about 3€ per person from 3 persons. And again you probably get the equipment too. Driver will wait for you the whole day.
Beach is nice with couple of restaurants and snorkeling is safe and easy. But remember to keep the feet up for there are lots of sea urcins there.

Directions: longtailboat from southcoast of Phuket

Absolutely gorgeous beach, maybe the most beautiful in Phuket (seen them all I think) if you dont mind the growd. Nice palmtrees and special rocks. No medusas. Good restaurant. The only downpoint is that the stairs down to the beach are absolutely horrible - dont go if you have any fysical disabilities. And getting back up is eaven worse of course.
Take tuk tuk or go by scooter.

I recommend to spend couple of hours in Dinopark minigolf. Such an exiting place and you get to do the minigolf too. Remember to wear as little clothes as possible as it seems to be the hottest place of Phuket. The Flinstones-style of restaurant there seemed to be very nice too.

Directions: Kata beach

Eaven the busjorney was nice cause the views were spectacular. First we did rafting for 45 minutes and perkele it was cool. One of the greatest experiences of my life! Well, it didnt feel very safe and we had few closeups but we ended up okay. After rafting we had a very nice meal and then had a jeepride deeper to jungle. There we did some walking in the jungle to a beautiful waterfall and get to swim in it. Drive back to the buss and with a bus to a place were we get to do elephant trekking, ox-cart riding and ATV. There was also elephant show and we got to sit on an ox. On the way back we stopped in biggest jewellery shop in the world.
The trip wasnt expencive at all like they usually arent in Phuket. Remember to pargain.

Dont go if you arent really into it. Dont exactly know how I ended up going on it..twice!! You may catch fish...or not. Day is long on the boat and sun burning. On the first fishingtrip 2005 we didnt get much fish and the meal the staff offered us was terrible (could chiken).
Year after we did get lot of fish and had it cooked for us in restaurant at raya beach. Raya beach is just perfect and well recovered from tsunami.
This trip was quite ecpencive compared to others.

I recommend to go to see thai boxing atleast once on your vacation. We did it on both our trips. First one was openair tsunami-charity match at Karon Beach and second indoors at Patong. You can get more information from any tripoffice.
There are lot of locals in boxing places and atmosphere is great. Rituals before matches look interesting and music is hypnotic.

I wasnt sure if I wanted to go there cause I had heard some bad things about how they keep the animals. But on our second trip we did go and Im not sorry we did. Things could have been better for the animals but everything seemed to be quite okay. Maybe in this case its better to support the zoo and buy the entrance ticket.
Aquarium there was cool and elephant show was classy.
