Situated in a scenic box canyon, Telluride remains relatively isolated from the rest of Colorado. Telluride is a former gold mining town that dates back to the 1870s. The town has retained its historic downtown district. Today Telluride is best known for its skiing and outdoor activities. It even hosts an annual international film festival.

    Hi Steve, Stunning photos of spectacular place with old mining history. My cousin Tom was silver miner-manager in nearby Creede, CO at higher elevation for some time before retirement. Good tips. Doug

    Dungeness may be a nice spot, I Telluride is also one of my favorites. I guess I'm just a mountain lover...
