Pacheco is located in the East Bay region of the San Francisco Bay Area. It is wedged between the cities of Concord, Pleasant Hill, and Martinez at the intersection of Highways 680 and 4. Pacheco is far enough away from San Francisco, yet close enough to the oil refineries in Martinez, to still retain some light industry.
Pacheco Boulevard is the main drag of Pacheco. It runs parallel to Highway 680. A variety of businesses line Pacheco Boulevard. When this arterial reaches Pleasant Hill, its name changes to Contra Costa Boulevard. From Pleasant Hill it continues to Walnut Creek where it becomes North Main Street.
Just beyond nearby Martinez along Highway 680 is the Benicia Bridge. This short bridge charges a toll identical to the San Francisco Bay Bridge. Although Pacheco contains some light industry, it is primarily a bedroom community for the San Francisco Bay Area. |

Yaqui Mon Sep 21, 2009 23:53 UTC I hope they preserve the building, would hate to see it disappear. Nice page, I always enjoy the history! | Stephanie Fri Sep 18, 2009 19:40 UTC California Grand Casino - thanks for updating your tip! And the formatting makes it easy to read. | Ewingjr98 Sun May 4, 2008 05:17 UTC I've never made it to the towns north of Oakland except Berkeley. Walnut Creek and Pacheco sound like pleasant places. |
