I took the SuperSeaCat ferry from Tallinn to Helsinki -- and then back again to Tallinn a few days later. The ride only lasts about 90 minutes. I purchased my tickets on the internet in advance, and everything worked out perfectly. You can also purchase tickets at the ticket window located inside the port.
While crossing the Baltic Sea, the ride was a little choppy at times -- but nothing too serious. During the trip, you can relax on one of the seats or even enjoy a meal at the snack bar. A very convenient and pleasant way to travel from Tallinn to Helsinki and vice versa!

I flew to and from Tallinn Airport on Lufthansa (my connecting city was Frankfurt, Germany on both flights). The airport is relatively small -- but it is clean and efficient. I checked some baggage on both the arriving and departing flights -- and I had absolutely no problems. Also, getting through customs was extremely pleasant. In fact, when I handed the customs agent my US passport, she asked me if it was my first time in Estonia -- and wished me an enjoyable trip!
As in most airports, the currency exchange rates are terrible -- so I would recommend changing as little money as possible. Unfortunately, I couldn't obtain Estonian currency in Frankfurt -- so I had to exchange enough at the airport to cover my taxi ride to my hotel in the Old Town.
Since my return flight left very early in the morning, I had coffee and a small breakfast at the Tallinn airport. The prices were more expensive than average, but that is the case with practically all airports. Overall, I was very pleased with the Tallinn airport.

Within the Old Town, everything is accessible by foot. Outside of the Old Town, Tallinn has a good system of public transportation. The trams are a particularly convenient way to get around much of the city. With a Tallinn card, you can hop on and off the trams as much as you want at no extra charge -- a great deal!
