"State of Michoacan, Mexico" Estado de Michoacán de Ocampo by Marcisteffen

We came to town of Sahuayo, saw a festival for a saint & spent the night in a hotel. The costumes are very colorful. These folklore people are called Tahualilis. The shiny metal on the costumes jingle when they move. Metal is made from tin cans. People are friendly. Sahuayo is a rural town close to Jiquilpan, the birthplace of Lazaro Cardenas a former president of Mexico.

This is from a different festival at another town. The costumes are very colorful! Sorry, I didn't write down at the time where the town is located at. I like going to small towns.. You really get to know how the people live and the food is so much better. One thing though! In Mexico don't drink the water unless it's bottled don't buy food from street vendors unless you see they have a sink & running water. You might get "Montezuma's Revenge!"...Diarrhea...

Mineral Spring Water

This a very memorable place to see!! Allthe water that comes bubbling out of the ground has a high mineral content. So high that the dwarf bananas there have seeds about the size of a lima bean, as thick as it is wide. Imagine a very fat lima bean. Because this water is straight out of the ground you can drink it. It is very good. Uruapan is a hill town of red roofed buildings.

• Pros:It's a very beautiful state to visit. Friendly folk, great food!
• Cons:take bug repellant & spray the bed or you 'll get bites
• In a nutshell:when God made Mexico he put the beauty in Michoacan
